Biological Decontaminations

Biological decontaminations are performed when there are concerns about contamination and potential exposure from certain types of bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

Some of the steps SANAIR performs during a decontamination process are as follows:

  • Create containment zones using polyethylene barriers and air pressurization to prevent the spreading of contamination.
  • Thorough cleaning of surfaces with technicians fully trained to perform terminal cleaning (A method of intensive cleaning and disinfection, used in hospitals). This method involves HEPA contact vacuuming and wiping surfaces with a hydrogen peroxide solution.
  • Fogging with a hydrogen peroxide solution (Electrostatic (Ionizing) and/or Smart Fog® De-Correlation Technology) Hydrogen peroxide is a sterilant and disinfectant proven to be an effective killing agent against SARS CoV-2 (Cause of COVID-19), Anthrax, C. diff, and Ebola) Ventilate the area and verify, through air testing, that hydrogen peroxide levels meet the OSHA permissible exposure limit (PEL) of 1 ppm, allowing for reoccupying the space.
